Wood is a natural thing and there is bound to be wood movement, depending on the environment it's in. For example, the wood will react differently when it's placed under air-conditioning verses outdoor under rain and shine.

The white spots on the furniture are due to the water evaporation that took place after the rain. This process is called natural age-ing and weathering. This outdoor furniture needs regular maintenance to make it free of stains after the rain. Eg.all water must be wiped off straight after the rain before the sun comes out. One solution for this is to apply teak oil to maintain the teak color as over time the color would turn grayish-silver. This is part and parcel of natural wood under the elements.

Teak is a dense, coarse, close-grained hardwood. It contains high levels of resinous oils that allow it to be naturally resistant to moisture, repellent to insects, and impervious to the drying effects of weather. Teak also contains silica, a sand-like component which creates a density to the wood that allows it to also be resistant to fungal decay, water, rotting, warping, shrinking, swelling and many damaging chemicals. It will not rust or corrode metals it comes in contact with and it can withstand the elements of all seasons, with its beauty increasing with its age

Natural teak tree are resistant to termites due to the natural oil produced during growth. When these trees are made into furniture, the natural oil is retained in the ‘heartwood’ (central wood of the tree). This natural oil made the teak furniture resistant to termites and other bugs’ infestation. However over time, the natural oil might be lost over time due to evaporation. In order to minimize this from occurring, teak should be occasionally varnished with teak oil that aids in sealing the natural oil in the teak furniture.

As teak is a dense wood, it can be used outdoor as water will not trapped in between the wood grains, this minimizes the changes of wood rot. However, overtime, the teak will fade to a grayish silver color if you want to maintain the teak color, you can apply teak oil to furniture once in 3 months.

In any furniture, no wood can be 100% dry. Wood is actually pretty much alive although they have been made into furniture. There will be slight wood movement which may results in cracks formation. The possibility of cracks forming can be reduced by mean of applying teak oil. This would help to moisturize the wood and reduce the possibility if wood splitting.

Teak wood furniture can be used for both outdoor and indoor application. However, to maintain its color as well as life-span, it is advisable to apply teak oil onto the furniture periodically. The increase frequency of this application will increase the overall appearance as well as life span of the furniture.

In the event where our furniture is no longer in stock, customers may wish to place an indent order. This indent order will be send to our factory in Indonesia for immediate production. Estimated time if arrival to Singapore is 60 days (maximum). This is only applicable for teak furniture. For China furniture and accessories, we are unable to make indent orders for it.

In order to provide competitive prices, Wihardja does not accept credit terms for its items. This includes normal retail and project based orders. It’s only through this way where Wihardja is able to provide our customers with Everyday Low Prices.

As most stocks are sold out, it’s wiser to close till the next stock arrival. While saving expenses, it makes us more competitive in prices.
